We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Specialist.  This position requires an experienced professional with a passion for making a positive difference in the safe and responsible development of our manufacturing processes.  Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. The Role:

  • Provide support and presence at our greenfield site in Casa Grande, AZ. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Specialist will provide support and coordination to the manufacturing teams by understanding equipment safety and the potential environmental impact of the manufacturing process. The Specialist will also provide equipment design guidance, waste management support and production team safety training.
  • In this role, the Health & Safety Specialist will provide support within their department to effectively address manufacturing facility Health & Safety risk profiles. The role balances manufacturing safety (50% focus), manufacturing ergonomics (25% focus) and construction safety (25% focus).

Qualifications:

  • As the Manufacturing Health & Safety Specialist you will provide support as a technical resource for ensuring manufacturing and construction safety. You will also be responsible for coordinating environmental protection standard methodologies. Within your team you will work to ensure the highest standards for protecting employees and the communities in which our employees operate. You will be responsible to understand the manufacturing processes so that you can assess risk and provide recommendations to eliminate manufacturing hazards and construction hazards. In this role, you are an embedded partner who influences the adoption of inherently safer and sustainable practices with respect to manufacturing process design, process safety conformance of capital equipment and proposed manufacturing practices.
  • Education & Experience:
  • Minimum BS/BA degree, Master’s degree preferred in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or related EHS field.
  • Minimum 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of electronics technology, supply chain, manufacturing processes and construction trade practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written in English.
  • Specialist Requirements:
  • Ability to follow established operational objectives, work plans and critical metrics
  • Ability to coordinate available resources to meet schedules, goals and get results.
  • Provide departmental support in OSHA investigations and subsequent follow up actions.Update and keep current environmental permits including, but not limited to, air permit, water permit, sanitary discharge permit and dust permit.
  • Mentor environmental technicians and waste management personnel and provide guidance and direction to meet department initiatives.
  • Coordinates activities of the program and team with responsibility for budgets, schedules, work plans, staffing and performance requirements.
  • Frequently interacts with manufacturing engineers and technicians in cross-functional work and able to provide support in a collaborative effort among members of a project team.
  • Occasionally interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning the Health & Safety program and external program partners.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Advantageous:
  • Automobile or industrial plant experience working in EH&S a plus.
  • Spanish language abilities is a bonus.
