We are currently seeking a Metrologist / Quality Control Engineer. This position requires an experienced professional who is a self-starter with a common sense approach to metrology in both single part application and assembly. This position will start in Newark California and will include any data acquisition and analysis associated with in-process and in-coming quality, and then transfer to Casa Grande AZ to run plant's Dimensional Control Plan for internal and external suppliers.

The Role

  • Create and manage Control Plans and auditing strategies based on risk assessments and data from the factory and field
  • Manage Data and Metrology Control Plan for the launch and ongoing production in Casa Grande, AZ for internal and external suppliers.
  • Analyze & improve Lucid Control Points and Significant Characteristics capability (Pp / Ppk > 1.33).
  • Maintain and execute ongoing work plan for improvement opportunities with respect to these characteristics. Strive for continuous improvements in stack bar capability performance.
  • Work alongside Metrology Layout Inspectors, monitor and respond to any trend shifts noted in data readings.
  • Address any issues relative to departmental quality and throughput due to incoming quality issues requiring containment. Utilize Internal Indicators to prioritize work actions.
  • Prepare, lead and participate in Vehicle Quality Reviews within the plant and suppliers.
  • Ensure gage calibration is being performed and documented as prescribed by the manufacturer or internal control process.
  • Coordinate special studies as needed for troubleshooting as needed during launch and ongoing production.
  • Ensure control plan prescribed frequencies is being adhered to with relevant and accurate data. Take steps to recover if required and assure reaction plan evidence and effectiveness
  • Understand Customer Feedback loop concerns and react to these concerns as needed (i.e. additional sampling, variability reduction)
  • Participate and lead dimensional-quality reviews as required.
  • Support on designing production and inspection workstations for quality
  • Constant work with the Metrologist Manager to work on reduce and eliminate defects contained on the single agenda for quality
  • Own all dimensional metrics reporting and publishing, as well as presenting data and improvement planning to the factory leadership
  • Travel up to 25%, occasionally on short notice

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and +3 years of equivalent experience required in automotive Industry
  • Exemplary verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to build outstanding teams and interface well with senior management
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Kaizen 5S and Six Sigma process
  • Capability to implement and drive a quality operating system within the Quality Control department
  • Experience methodizing production workstations for ergonomics and efficiency
  • Ability to create improvement plans for quality with productive areas to achieve desired results
  • Strong written and verbal skills as well as organizational and program management capabilities
