Lucid Motors is building our Global Retail Design and Development team in Newark (SF Bay Area)!  We are currently seeking a Design Manager to join our collaborative team to oversee the design and development of retail sales, service and distribution locations. Join this innovative space in the electric vehicle retail experience where brands have full control of the sales cycle and customer experience.

The Role

  • Lead new store design activities including showrooms, service centers, and delivery centers.
  • Draft and negotiate design discipline contracts with assistance from the legal team
  • Benchmark and validate project budgets with assistance from the development team
  • Manage new and existing project schedules, identifying areas for overlap and improvement
  • Participate in strategic expansion planning sessions and draft department proposals
  • Help to establish an entirely new global vendor base of architects, engineers, and design professionals, as well as managing their efforts through each design phase
  • Maintain a printed and digital archive of both active and past projects
  • Design Management of third party design professionals and consultants for new facilities
  • Generate concepts for projects large and small
  • Contribute to site feasibility studies

Qualifications

  • 7-10 yrs experience doing design management for Luxury Retail or Automotive or Hospitality Brands
  • Experience building internal and outsourced design teams
  • Working knowledge of the retail development environment and it’s fast-paced, adaptive processes
  • A proven track record of delivering high-quality projects on time and on schedule.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with automotive franchise law, understanding what can be constructed, staffed and operated in regions throughout the US, and globally.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Portfolio demonstrating type of projects worked on and your contribution
