Lucid Motors seeks Senior Electric Motor Calibration and Test Engineer for the Control Development Group. This group will support Lucid’s plan to achieve world-class efficiency, safety and drive quality. The Engineer must be a strong systems-focused team player with interdisciplinary experience/expertise, and willing to work in a fast paced environment.

The Role

  • Establish test cases, test procedures, test plans for motor control system and component level tests for validating MCU software
  • Develop test automation, automate test tools, generate and improve automation scripts on dynamometer tests and other inline and end-of-line tests for factory series production
  • Work with hardware design team to support hardware validation efforts and calibration tuning. Prioritize tests, communicate risks and aid timely delivery of finalized calibrations.
  • Ensure quality of software and calibrations delivered to final product
  • Answer to data and calibration change requests from vehicle, chassis, ADAS, powertrain and other test teams
  • Troubleshoot various systems and ECUs using lab and measurement equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters as well as tools such as Vector CANoe, CANalyzer etc.
  • Provide feedback from test findings to developers, hardware and systems engineering groups
  • Represent motor controls at system level integration including powertrain tests, vehicle road and track tests. Run tests at various levels of integration, document and report test results
  • Document and track issues as appropriate and participate in triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution
  • Advance the state-of-the-art in electrified vehicle technology through the use of innovative methods, tools, and processes


  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree
  • 3-5 years of industrial or academic experience working with electric motors and inverters
  • Experience with modeling and simulation
  • Experience with data acquisition and testing such as National Instruments PXI, Labview, Veristand
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, Python and Matlab scripting
  • Understanding of electrified vehicle fundamentals
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and technical problem solving ability
  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field
  • 5+ years of automotive experience working with electric motors and inverters
  • Specialization in classical/modern control disciplines with vehicle application
  • Expertise in electric motor and inverter calibration, dynamometer testing, parameter measurement and system identification
  • Experience with electric motor and inverter diagnostics
  • Experience working with electrified vehicle powertrain
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, self-motivated and able to work independently
  • This position involves travel
