We are currently seeking an NPI Material Planner.  NPI Material Planner is responsible for materials readiness of new product. He or she will work very closely with both internal and external stakeholder to implement Lucid Motor’s sourcing strategy, track NPI product budgets, and manage the parts to ensure materials readiness for all development builds and ramp for developmental builds. The Role:

  • Follows through with engineering on early stages of development to ensure common understanding of the requirements as well as to assist with early architectural choices in the implementation, actively drive design for value.
  • Analyzes bill of materials to determine key cost drivers, identify the opportunities to drive lower COGS/higher margin/secure supply chain with other key internal stakeholders.
  • Work with Commodity Management and Engineering to multi-source parts to ensure continuity of supply and competitive pricing.
  • Actively participate BOM review meeting with design team, Commodity Management and Engineering team to identify multi-source parts, establish a qualification plan to ensure continuity of supply and to obtain competitive pricing)
  • Drives contract manufacturing partners and other suppliers as needed to purchase required parts and materials based on bill of materials associated with the introduction of new products into the manufacturing environment
  • Conduct weekly conference calls with CM’s /OEM sites to review material readiness for builds
  • Ensures purchases are made at the correct volumes based on prototype plans
  • Manages CM materials purchasing and ensures smooth handoff of key component issues and material pipeline to Supply Chain Managers
  • Manage supply chain / suppliers to make sure continued product availability, e.g. EOL devices, shortages, risks, risk buy authorizations for prototypes/ pilot, alternates, lead-times, materials availability, etc.
  • Identify and drive the programs to shorten component lead time and increase supply flexibility in NPI stage
  • Negotiate final production COGS with the Contract Manufacturer
  • Initiates material requisitions for Hardware Engineering for NPI required materials including assemblies and associated NRE’s. Prepare Purchase Order/ PO Instructions to CMs in accordance with NPI expectations.
  • Manage transition from development to sustaining/production. Train/ramp Sustaining Material Managers and affected Commodity Manager on very new product.
  • Support development of new NPI-related materials processes, and continually seeks to improve existing processes.
  • Take initiatives to identify any potential process gaps and drive actions to closure

Qualifications:

  • 3 years minimum Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Material Management experience or 1 year of relevant experience with an MBA
  • Understanding in manufacturing processes (ex. Castings, extrusions, rubber molding, forging, injection molding, stamping, machining)
  • Product launch experience preferred
  • Understanding of quality principles, product development processes, and data analysis. Able to show teamwork to resolve problems and a thought process to drive successful solutions
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Passion for results, strategy, and hands-on execution. Creative, calculated risk taker with the ability to manage difficult suppliers and resolve disputes while preserving relationships with suppliers and internal staff
  • Strong written and verbal skills as well as organizational and program management capabilities.
  • Proficient in Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
  • Ability to mitigate unforeseen problems creatively and effectively
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical, supply chain or finance discipline
  • MBA a plus
