The Powertrain Production Team Leader is the first line of supervision on the Manufacturing Production Team, and will be responsible for providing leadership, training and hands-on assistance to Production Associates. Excellent attendance is crucial for team to achieve success. He/she must have the ability to work with various teams in Powertrain. They will also be required to work with engineering, quality, and suppliers in various aspects of the overall process. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Company and outside.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily startup and close out verification for your team.
  • Review units for quality and operations for defects and resolve issues.
  • Monitor work areas for adherence to 5S standards of workplace organization.
  • Monitor work areas for adherence to Environmental standards and address and necessary.
  • React, resolve and track abnormalities and confirm closure of concerns.
  • Assist production associates as required to maintain production flow consistent with tact time requirements.
  • Perform autonomous predictive and preventative maintenance tasks on team’s tooling.
  • Obtain materials and supplies for the team.
  • Coordinate corrective actions to ensure line is properly stocked.
  • Adhere to time and data management schedule to promote and support continuous improvement activities in the team.
  • Escalate safety, quality and productivity issues that cannot be resolved by the team.
  • Perform repair/rework of assemblies and/or systems as indicated from inspection or diagnostic testing.
  • Contribute in the development of test and repair procedures.
  • Provide training to production associates.
  • Physical work including but not limited to pushing, pulling, gripping, twisting, reaching, lifting, repetitive motions, etc.
  • Ability to follow a required specific sequence of steps in a process repetitively for an extended period of time.
  • Working for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting objects at various load levels.
  • Use of complex tooling that requires specialized training.
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment: safety glasses, vests, shoes, hard hats.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in the U.S.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with leadership experience.
  • Must have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills, comfortable presenting ideas and issues to peer groups and leaders.
  • Positive energy and attitude.
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Must be reliable, have good initiative, be committed, and be quality focused.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and in team environments at a rapid pace.
  • Flexibility to support any shift including day, night and swing shifts, as needed. Weekend and holiday work may be required.
  • There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
  • Previous experience working in an automotive OEM plant desired.
