Lucid Group today announced the expansion of its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP-1) to bolster its manufacturing capabilities ahead of production of the company’s new fully electric SUV, the Lucid Gravity, and to support future growth.

“The expansion of our manufacturing footprint in Arizona is a significant milestone for the company, as we prepare for the next phase of Lucid’s growth,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO at Lucid. “Our expanded state-of-the-art factory will allow us to continue to deliver our great cars to our customers around the world, including the Lucid Gravity in the near future. We are proud to call Casa Grande home, to continue in our role pioneering advanced technology in Arizona, and to be an American electric vehicle company.”

The AMP-1 expansion includes a new 3 million square foot manufacturing facility and warehouse. When the expansion is officially complete, it will bring the following functions together onto one campus: a new General Assembly line, new Quality and Semi-Knock Down (SKD) centers, expanded Body and Paint shops, a relocated Logistics center, and a relocated and expanded Powertrain facility, where Lucid’s award-winning proprietary powertrain technology will be built. In addition, AMP-1 now includes one of the most advanced stamping facilities in the world. This new, vertically integrated stamping facility will allow for the highest quality standards, greater flexibility, and in turn, reduced costs. The stamping operations will commence onsite later in 2024.

“In just a few short years, the Lucid team has evolved our manufacturing footprint into one of the few highly integrated electric vehicle manufacturing plants in the U.S.,” said Steven David, SVP of Operations at Lucid. “This expanded state-of-the-art plant will bring greater operational efficiency to our manufacturing process and allow us to continue to deliver our high-quality, groundbreaking electric vehicles to our customers.”

Lucid has cemented itself as a pioneer of advanced technology manufacturing in Pinal County, Arizona, and continues to pave the way for innovation. Through partnerships with the Arizona Commerce Authority, City of Casa Grande and Central Arizona College, Lucid has and will continue to champion the development of home-grown Arizona talent and provide expert skill development training.
