Lucid is entering an exciting new chapter in Saudi Arabia. We’re taking our manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), AMP-2, from initial assembly to full production. We are expanding rapidly and hiring across manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, operations, and more. This next phase marks more than growth. It represents our deepening investment in the Kingdom’s future and the next era of sustainable, electric mobility.

When we cut the ribbon on AMP-2 in September 2023, we didn’t just open a new facility, we opened the Kingdom’s first-ever car manufacturing plant. It was a historic first for Saudi Arabia and a defining step for Lucid as our first international manufacturing site, built to produce vehicles for the Kingdom and for the world.

From the outset, this site has embodied partnership and ambition. AMP-2 stands on the shoulders of collaboration with Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia (MISA), Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF), and King Abdullah Economic Center (KAEC), aligning directly with Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative. This is where Saudi progress and Lucid’s uncompromising performance meet.

Accelerating the Kingdom’s Electric Future

Saudi Arabia is undergoing a historic transformation. Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative set ambitious goals for 30% of new car sales to be electric by 2030, supported by bold national investments in infrastructure, industry, and innovation. This vision aligns directly with Lucid’s mission: through technology, we create exceptional experiences to drive the world forward.

In 2023, we began the final assembly of Lucid Air vehicles in KAEC at our SKD (semi-knockdown) facility, marking the start of a new chapter for both the Kingdom and for Lucid. Construction of our CBU (complete build unit) factory is on track to complete by the end of 2026, with a designed capacity to scale to ~150,000 EVs annually. By merging design, technology, performance, and sustainability, the vehicles that will be produced at AMP-2 demonstrate what it means to build the electric future without compromise.

KAEC was chosen strategically: world-class port access, proximity to Jeddah, and the space to grow thoughtfully. It gives Lucid an ideal foundation to build an EV ecosystem from the ground up—one that connects local expertise with global reach.

As part of the King Salman Automotive Cluster, AMP-2 sits at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s emerging mobility hub. This cluster brings together suppliers, logistics partners, and supporting industries to accelerate the Kingdom’s automotive capabilities. It is an ideal environment for Lucid to scale advanced manufacturing and innovation.

But AMP-2 is more than a manufacturing site. It’s a symbol of the Kingdom’s transformation, creating thousands of jobs and empowering a new generation of Saudi talent to shape the future of mobility. Through our partnerships with the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) and the National Automotive and Vehicles Academy (NAVA) in KAEC, Lucid is developing the next generation of EV professionals. Some participants get to train in both Saudi Arabia and at Lucid’s U.S. facilities before bringing their expertise back home, so “Made in Saudi” means built to a single global standard.
