At CES 2026, we unveiled something special: our production-intent next generation robotaxi - built by Lucid, driven by Nuro, and available exclusively on Uber.

Our production-intent vehicle showcases not only what makes the Lucid Gravity one of the most versatile SUVs on the road today, but also the ideal platform for a next-generation robotaxi service.

The answer comes down to a simple phrase we live by at Lucid: Compromise Nothing.

While at the show, we caught up with Lucid’s Zach Walker, Sr. Director, Product Management and Advanced Product Creation, and Hardeep Singh, Chief Engineer of Rideshare Products, to dive a bit deeper into what makes Lucid Gravity your perfect autonomous ride.

The Perfect Platform

The things that make a Lucid an exceptional vehicle are essentially the same things that make it a great robotaxi. Offering an incredible range¹, comfortable seating for 6 passengers, a premium experience and cavernous interior space for everyone’s luggage, you have a winning combination.

"Our compromise nothing ethos really shines through in all of Lucid Gravity’s experiences,” Walker described. “We’re proud of what we have been able to package into a single vehicle. It offers incredible interior space, beautiful exterior design, and unrivaled in-car experience, while delivering outstanding vehicle efficiency and range."

All of this means vehicles can accommodate more riders, stay in service longer, require less down time for charging, and create a best-in-class experience on every ride.

Seamless Integration

Take a quick glance at any competitor robotaxis and you'll immediately spot the differences from our next-generation vehicle. Instead of sensor pods being retrofitted as afterthoughts and hardware being packed into any available space, we took a decidedly different approach.

Singh and the Nuro team approached the integration effort with a clear mandate: other than the halo unit on the roof, every sensor must look intentionally designed – tucked into the spoiler, blended into the fenders, color matched exactly – and in keeping with Lucid’s signature design language.

"Sensors should never look like an afterthought slapped on the bodywork," Singh explained. "This will be a premium experience, and that should start from the moment a customer first sees the car. Everything should look like it was meant to be there."

The best part? We didn't even have to redesign the body structure to integrate Nuro’s sensor halo – it mounts perfectly using the existing roof rack mounts. The vehicle frame remains unchanged. The platform we built for families turned out to be ideal for autonomous fleets, because we engineered it to be versatile from the start.

And later this year, all these sensors and equipment will be installed as part of the assembly process at our facility in Arizona.

Thoughtful Adaptation

Inside, we made smart modifications for fleet durability: fixed cup holder trays, secured armrests, and a simplified center console. Not to cut costs, but to ruggedize the cabin for thousands of rides. The stunning screen system, including the uninterrupted 34-inch 6K OLED display, stays and now displays Uber's interface alongside an autonomy viewer, so riders can see exactly what the vehicle is doing.

An intuitive in-ride experience builds on the unprecedented comfort of the Lucid Gravity with interactive screens that let riders personalize their autonomous journey, from heated-seat and climate controls to music, as well as options to contact support, or request the vehicle to pull-over.

“Fleet maintenance, and limiting downtime, is a critical part to success,” Singh shared. “As we considered modifications for the robotaxi, we wanted to limit the number of potential points of failure, while ensuring it maintains a consistent, premium experience for riders.”

All of these details have been considered to help ensure an exceptional customer experience.

Why This Matters

Our work with Uber and Nuro echoes what we've always believed: when you refuse to compromise on efficiency, space, and design, you create a platform capable of so much more.
