Staff Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Exterior Trim

We are seeking a Staff Supplier Industrialization Engineer to lead the industrialization of exterior trim systems from early design development through production launch and sustained manufacturing performance. This staff-level individual contributor will provide technical leadership across supplier selection, manufacturing feasibility, tooling readiness, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), capacity validation, and issue resolution. You will influence product and process decisions across internal teams and supplier organizations, while developing scalable standards and control strategies for complex exterior components. In the first 12 months, success will include establishing clear industrialization plans, reducing supplier and launch risk, achieving production readiness, and ensuring assigned suppliers consistently meet Lucid's quality, timing, and capacity expectations. This role offers direct ownership of highly visible components and the opportunity to shape manufacturing methods that bring distinctive exterior designs to production. 

What You'll Own 

• Industrialization Strategy: Own the end-to-end industrialization strategy for assigned exterior trim commodities, including timing, tooling, capital equipment, fixtures, process validation, assembly readiness, Run at Rate, PPAP, and start of production. 

• Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical lead for complex supplier manufacturing challenges, guide cross-functional decisions, and establish scalable standards, lessons learned, and best practices across programs and suppliers. 

• Manufacturing Feasibility: Influence part design and sourcing decisions by assessing manufacturing feasibility, supplier capability, capacity, quality systems, and launch risk before business award and design release. 

• APQP and Launch Readiness: Lead robust APQP execution from early design through mass production, ensuring risks are identified, mitigated, and documented through process flow, PFMEA, control plans, capability studies, validation builds, and PPAP evidence. 

• Process and Quality Excellence: Develop manufacturing and quality control strategies using GD&T, tolerance analysis, measurement systems, statistical methods, test methods, gaging, and preventive quality tools to achieve reliable production performance. 

• Supplier Performance: Lead supplier audits, site assessments, capacity reviews, and corrective-action plans; monitor performance metrics and drive permanent resolution of process, quality, and delivery issues. 

• Cross-Functional Delivery: Partner with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, NPI, Incoming Quality, Material Planning, Supplier Quality, and assembly plant teams to protect production, resolve escalations, and deliver program milestones. 

What You Bring 

Required Qualifications 

• 6+ years of high-volume automotive manufacturing experience in exterior trim systems, including experience in supplier industrialization, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, launch engineering, or product engineering. 

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience. 

• Hands-on experience leading APQP, PPAP, supplier readiness, tooling and process validation, Run at Rate, launch execution, and structured problem solving. 

• Deep knowledge of exterior trim manufacturing processes and Class A components, such as front and rear fascias, rocker moldings, wheel arch moldings, liftgates, spoilers, cowl screens, grilles, bright trim, appliques, and other injection-molded decorative parts. 

• Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, DOE, capability analysis, root-cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action methods. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field. 

• Experience with tolerance analysis, mold-flow analysis, appearance approval processes, tooling development, painting, plating, joining, and secondary operations for exterior trim components. 

• Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and experience conducting supplier process audits and production readiness assessments. 

• Professional certification such as ASQ, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing, or a comparable quality or operations credential. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Smartsheet, JMP, Minitab, JIRA, or Tableau is a plus. 
• Strong executive communication, stakeholder influence, technical writing, and data-driven decision-making skills in a fast-paced, global environment.
