Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of electric cars?
Modern electric vehicles deliver superior performance with instant torque, better handling, more advanced features and infotainment systems, and in many cases, lower fuel costs. They produce zero tailpipe emissions, and many can drive 400 miles or more before needing to be recharged, which can be conveniently done at home.
Can EVs handle cold weather?
Yes, electric vehicles are great in every season. While EVs may experience a reduction in range in very cold weather, vehicles like Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity have advanced thermal management systems that help mitigate that reduction by preconditioning the battery for optimal performance and range, even in extreme cold.
Why are electric vehicles better for the environment?
Electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions. Lucid Air is the most energy-efficient electric sedan on the U.S. market today. The 2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring produces about 6% fewer greenhouse gas emissions during use than the leading U.S. EV competitor and about 30% less emissions than the leading German EV competitor.² Learn more about the environmental impact of EVs here.
What are the different types of EV charging?
EV charging varies by speed and power delivery. Level 1 AC charging uses a standard household outlet and typically adds 3–5 miles (5–8 kilometers) per hour, ideal for charging your vehicle at home overnight without special equipment.
Level 2 AC charging uses higher-voltage equipment and can add 15–40 miles (25–65 kilometers) per hour. This kind of charging is commonly found in public parking facilities and at workplaces, and it can also be installed in your home.
DC charging can deliver up to 400 kW at public fast charging stations. In Lucid Air, that can add up to 200 miles in only 12 minutes with its top trim,³ while in Lucid Gravity, you can add up to 200 miles in under 11 minutes with its top trim.⁴ Learn more about Lucid public charging here.
How many years do electric cars last?
Electric vehicles are built to drive for many years. Most manufacturers offer battery warranties covering 100,000+ miles (160,000+ kilometers) over 8 years. With proper charging, maintenance, and storage practices, EV batteries are expected to last even longer than that. Besides that, with dramatically fewer moving parts than vehicles with gasoline engines, there are also fewer potential failure points.
