About Lucid

At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid’s proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our “Compromise Nothing™” approach to the global automotive market. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. In Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, we have designed and built vehicles that have redefined their segments, combining exceptional range, performance, design, and expansive space in a single experience.

We achieve this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production happening in-house across our global offices and manufacturing facilities. Our teams come from industries around the world, united by a shared commitment to excellence. By refusing to settle, you can help redefine what’s possible and shape the future of mobility.

The Powertrain Quality Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical and electronic Powertrain Quality engineering activities at Lucid Motors. This role works across the product lifecycle and manufacturing launch to ensure electrical components, high-voltage interfaces, control systems, assembly processes, and end-of-line tests meet engineering specifications, Lucid Quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The engineer partners with Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Incoming Quality, Launch, Maintenance, Test Engineering, and Production teams to prevent defects, protect the production line, and drive timely containment and sustainable corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own Quality engineering activities for electrical and electronic Powertrain components and assembly processes, including electric motors, inverters, power electronics, wiring, connectors, sensors, control modules, and high-voltage interfaces.
  • Ensure compliance of Quality deliverables at each launch milestone and confirm electrical product, software, test, and process readiness before start of production and volume ramp-up.
  • Review electrical schematics, specifications, interface requirements, special characteristics, DFMEA/PFMEA, control plans, work instructions, and test standards for completeness and manufacturing applicability.
  • Coordinate APQP/PPAP and validation of electrical parts and processes, including continuity, insulation resistance, dielectric withstand, grounding, connector engagement, pin integrity, torque, end-of-line functional tests, and diagnostic checks, as applicable.
  • Define incoming, in-process, control point, and end-of-line inspection and test requirements and support test equipment qualification, measurement system analysis, calibration, golden samples, limits, and operator training.
  • Monitor production Quality performance and lead containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification for electrical, electronic, diagnostic, and high-voltage defects.
  • Lead cross-functional problem solving for intermittent faults, connector and harness issues, sensor signals, communication faults, insulation failures, test escapes, and workmanship concerns affecting Powertrain Quality and Field Quality.
  • Support equipment qualification, process validation, line trials, safe launch, layered process audits, and readiness reviews for new or changed electrical assembly and test processes.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality to address electrical component nonconformities, verify corrective actions, and improve capability and parts maturity.
  • Manage nonconforming product disposition with cross-functional teams and ensure traceability, segregation, repair validation, software or calibration control, and protection of internal and external customers.
  • Analyze test, diagnostic, repair, audit, warranty, and field data to identify trends and implement preventive improvements that improve customer experience.
  • Support engineering and software change implementation by confirming validation, configuration control, documentation, training, parts readiness, and Quality approvals before production release.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of automotive Quality systems, APQP, PPAP, control plans, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, layered process audits, and structured problem-solving methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerance requirements, process documentation, and inspection standards.
  • Knowledge of electrical measurement, high-voltage safety principles, diagnostic tools, CAN-based vehicle communication, electrical test equipment, and functional end-of-line testing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot circuits, connectors, harnesses, sensors, controllers, power electronics, and communication faults using structured diagnostic methods.
  • Strong root cause analysis, data analysis, technical reporting, and corrective action verification skills.
  • Effective cross-functional communication skills with Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Maintenance, Launch, and Production teams.
  • Hands-on, customer-focused, and data-driven approach with the ability to prioritize multiple issues in a fast-paced launch and production environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with MES, QMS, statistical analysis, and digital traceability tools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Powertrain, automotive manufacturing, testing, or product engineering within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, diagnostic tools, measurement systems, MSA, SPC, capability analysis, and automotive core tools.
  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor, support production priorities, and communicate technical issues effectively across different organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience with EV Powertrain electrical systems, electric motors, inverters, power electronics, high-voltage components, harnesses, sensors, controllers, or end-of-line testing.
  • Experience supporting new product launches, greenfield manufacturing, or high-volume production ramp-up.
  • High-voltage training or certification and familiarity with functional safety, configuration control, and vehicle network diagnostics.
