Connecting CarPlay

Option 1: Wirelessly

Pair your iPhone with your Lucid in your vehicle’s Connectivity settings. To find these settings, go to Settings > Connectivity > Devices > Add Device.

The first time you connect your iPhone to your vehicle wirelessly, a message will appear on the Pilot Panel prompting you to launch CarPlay. Tap Confirm, and CarPlay will open on the Right Cockpit Panel.

After that, every time your Lucid detects your paired iPhone, it will connect automatically, and CarPlay will open on the Right Cockpit Panel.

Option 2: Via USB

You can plug a USB cable that’s connected to your iPhone in to one of the USB ports in your vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

CarPlay is compatible with iPhone 5 and above. It is always best to be running the latest version of iOS for your device.

Yes, this is an advantage of using CarPlay. To invoke Siri, you can long-press the Voice button on your steering wheel or the Dashboard button in CarPlay, or say, “Hey Siri.”

No. CarPlay is a projection of your iPhone onto your in-car display. It is an extension of your iPhone and can only do what your phone can do. It cannot operate your car controls or change your vehicle settings. However, Lucid Assistant is able to respond to some vehicle control commands, like changing your climate settings, opening your trunk, and more. You can invoke Lucid Assistant when CarPlay is active by short-pressing the Voice button on your steering wheel.

First, check the connection to your vehicle:

  • If you are using a USB cable, make sure it is plugged in to your iPhone, then try multiple USB ports. Consider trying multiple cables as well in case the first one isn’t working.

  • If you are using a wireless connection on a compatible iPhone, make sure Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Location Services are all on. In you Wi-Fi settings, tap the CarPlay network and check that Auto-Join is turned on.

Next, if you don’t see a notification to launch CarPlay on the Right Cockpit Panel after you’ve connected, try launching it manually by tapping the Home button, then tapping the CarPlay button.

If none of these steps work, restart your iPhone and try them again. Other things you can try:

    1. Make sure Siri is on.

    2. Make sure that CarPlay is not restricted on your iPhone. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If the Content & Privacy Restrictions setting is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.

    3. Remove your iPhone from your vehicle, pair it again, and try the steps above again.

    4. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your Lucid, tap Forget This Car, then set up CarPlay again following the steps above.

Follow the steps below to switch your iPhone from wired to wireless CarPlay in your Lucid Gravity.

First, you’ll need to completely unpair your iPhone from your vehicle.

    1. Start by connecting your iPhone with a USB cable as you normally would.

    2. Next, remove your iPhone from your vehicle’s paired devices. To do this, from the Pilot Panel, go to Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth > Paired Devices. When you’re done, unplug your iPhone from the USB cable.

    3. Finally, on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your Lucid, then tap Forget This Car.

Second, you’ll need to connect your iPhone again and enable wireless CarPlay during the pairing process. Follow the instructions for doing this here.

The CarPlay icon in the status bar can be one of four colors to let you know at a glance whether CarPlay is enabled and connected:

  • Dark gray – A dark gray CarPlay icon means that CarPlay is not available because no capable device is paired with your vehicle. To pair one, follow the instructions above.

  • Light gray – A light gray CarPlay icon means that CarPlay is available because a capable device is paired with your vehicle, but not connected to CarPlay. To connect and open CarPlay, tap the icon.

  • White – A white icon means CarPlay is connected but not currently in use. To open CarPlay, tap the icon.

  • Gold – A gold icon means CarPlay is connected and in use.
