Lucid Lease-End Inspections

Understanding Your Lease-End Inspections

To make your lease return fair and transparent, Lucid partners with OPENLANE (formerly AutoVIN) for all vehicle inspections.

There are two separate inspections: a pre-lease-end inspection and a post-lease-return inspection, each serving a unique purpose. Learn more about how they work and what to expect from each of them.

Pre-Lease-End Inspection

The pre-lease-end inspection gives you a detailed picture of your Lucid’s condition before your return appointment. It’s a courtesy service, free of charge, that helps you plan ahead and avoid surprises. This inspection you must schedule yourself.

How the pre-lease-end inspection works

  • Schedule your appointment with OPENLANE at inspections.openlane.com or by calling +1 (800) 556-2811.

  • The inspection can be done at your home, office, or a preferred location.

  • You’ll receive a detailed report outlining any Excess Wear & Use or missing items (for example, wheel damage, windshield chips, or missing accessories).

Why a pre-lease-end inspection matters

  • You’ll have time to repair or replace items if you wish before you return your vehicle.

  • Some repairs may be covered by your personal insurance policy. Check directly with your insurer for confirmation.

  • Service appointments at Lucid Service Centers may require a few weeks’ lead time, so it’s best to plan ahead once your pre-lease-end inspection is complete.

Tip: Completing your pre-lease-end inspection within 90 days of your lease end ensures the most accurate report for your return.

Post-Lease-Return Inspection

The post-lease-return inspection is the official inspection used to determine your vehicle's final condition and any applicable lease-end charges. Lucid completes this inspection after your return appointment.

How the post-lease-return inspection works

  • After you turn in your vehicle, Lucid will request a post-lease-return inspection through OPENLANE.

  • This inspection takes place at a Lucid facility or authorized site and is performed by an independent, certified inspector using the Excess Wear & Use Guidelines.

  • The comprehensive post-lease-return inspection report covers wear, damage, mileage, and missing equipment, based on the condition of the vehicle when it was returned.

  • This inspection of your vehicle may identify additional items not present during the pre-inspection. Customers remain responsible for all final lease-end charges.

What happens next

  • Once completed, you’ll receive an email confirming that the inspection report is available.

  • This report forms the basis for your final lease-end bill issued by Lucid Financial Services.

  • You can review your bill and report at the same time to understand any charges related to excess wear, use, or mileage.

Disputing Your Inspection Report

If you wish to dispute a finding or charge, you must wait until your lease-end bill has been issued. It is not possible to file a dispute based solely on the inspection report.

Once your bill is available, if you want to file a dispute, contact Lucid Financial Services at +1 (833) 423-0369 for assistance.

Inspections & Returns

A pre-lease-end inspection is optional but highly recommended. It’s completely free and helps identify any potential chargeable damage or excess use before your return, giving you enough time to have it repaired. Schedule yours during the last 90 days of your lease at inspections.openlane.com or by calling +1 (800) 556-2811.

Visit inspections.openlane.com and select Need Help Logging In or call OPENLANE Customer Support at +1 (800) 556-2811.

Pre-lease-end inspections can be done at your home, office, or another convenient location. Post-lease-return inspections occur after return at the Lucid facility or partner site where you turned in your vehicle.

We recommend being available during the pre-lease-end inspection so you can review any findings with the inspector in person. They follow the exact same guidelines as the inspectors doing the post-lease-return inspection. Since the post-lease-return inspection happens after your vehicle is returned, you don’t need to be present.

Absolutely. You may choose to repair any items found during the pre-lease-end inspection before your return appointment. Service appointments can have lead times of several weeks, so it’s best to plan ahead. Some repairs may be covered by your personal insurance, so check with your provider for eligibility.

You can confirm your return once your pre-lease-end inspection is complete or scheduled, ideally 30 to 60 days before your lease ends. All returns must take place at an authorized Lucid Service & Delivery Center.

Yes. Contact your Sales Specialist or Lucid Sales at +1 (844) 367-7787 as early as possible to choose a new time. Avoid leaving the vehicle without confirmation, as this can result in fees.

You’ll present a valid ID, so we know you are a person who is authorized to return the vehicle. A Lucid representative will take photos of your vehicle to document its condition, record mileage, check that all items like key fobs have been returned, and complete all necessary forms.

You’ll review all of these documents together before signing them and receive copies for your records. Lucid will then schedule the post-lease-return inspection and notify Lucid Financial Services that your vehicle has been returned.

Missing equipment will be listed on the inspection report and may result in a charge on your final bill. We recommend rescheduling your lease return if you arrive with missing items on the day of your return.

No. You must return your vehicle to an authorized Lucid Service & Delivery Center after scheduling a return appointment. Vehicles left at any another location or without a confirmed appointment will incur additional fees.
